Prior to October 2008, the group that is now called the Diablo Pacific Short Line (DPSL) was organized as a subgroup of the Bay Area Garden Railway Society (BAGRS), a membership-based club formed in 1988 to promote garden railroading in the San Francisco Bay Area. Under these auspices, the DPSL functioned to perform outreach and promote new membership.

In October 2008, the DPSL spun off from BAGRS, benefitting from a generous contribution from BAGRS and the gifting of important equipment. The DPSL incorporated under the new name and is now an independent organization. As such, the DPSL is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit through the IRS.
The DPSL has a large and growing membership base. There are approximately 30 member households with more than 50 individual members. New member households are always welcome to join the DPSL.
The DPSL members actively strive to improve the portable layout. There are frequent workdays during which new, wider radius corner modules are created and other improvements occur. Incorporating these wider radius corners into the layout will allow us to run trains with longer engines and longer cars. We also hope to soon have a new sample module available for display and acquisition by a new member just aching to add to the variety of scenes located along the Diablo Pacific Short Line Railroad.
The DPSL is interested in appearing at new and different venues. To help meet our costs, which include insurance, storage, gas, vehicle registration, maintenance, and supplies, a modest stipend is often charged.
